In 1899, the murder of a young woman in the woods of Bohemia sparked a blood libel that still haunts the Czech Republic today. More than a century later, the Czech justice system has never overturned the verdict against Leopold Hilsner, the Jewish man wrongly convicted in one of the country’s most infamous antisemitic political trials. Can a nation truly confront its role in the Holocaust while this injustice still stands?
